About Mount House School

Mount House School is a small, nurturing co‑educational day school in Barnet, North London. With a maximum of sixty students per year group, every child is known, cherished and challenged, enabling them to flourish across academic and co-curricular life.

Set within a beautiful Georgian house opposite Hadley Common, the school offers a unique blend of countryside calm and easy access to London’s cultural opportunities. Education has been the heart of this setting since 1940, and since becoming fully co‑educational in 2022, Mount House has continued to develop as a community that values individuality, creativity and academic ambition.

The school emphasises exceptional pastoral care and a “small is beautiful” ethos, where relationships are strong, support is personalised, and every student is empowered to reach their full potential. Our vision - Be You. Belong. Become. Is underpinned by the values of authenticity, confidence, community, compassion, aspiration and growth.

About the Role

Mount House School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 pastoral and academic support to students with EHCP needs. This is a highly rewarding role where you will work closely with individual students to help them access learning, build confidence and develop independence.

You will attend lessons to provide in-class assistance, guide students through classwork and homework, and engage them through their interests, including subjects such as art, food technology, history and sport. You will build positive relationships with both students and families, supporting clear communication between home and school.

Beyond classroom support, you will contribute to students’ emotional development, promote inclusion, and help reinforce the high expectations of the Mount House learning environment. You will monitor and report progress, adjust support strategies as needed, and encourage students to take pride in their achievements.

You will also provide wider support across the school, including behaviour management, assisting with events, displays, administrative tasks, exam support and general classroom organisation. Above all, you will embody the school’s ethos: nurturing confidence, building community and helping each child become their best self.

Safeguarding is central to this role. You will follow all school policies, maintain confidentiality, complete required training, and prioritise the wellbeing of every child.
