Job Summary
The Registrar oversees the student registration process and the accurate maintenance, security, and reporting of student academic records. This position provides leadership for the Registrar's Office, supervises staff, ensures compliance with FERPA and applicable state and federal regulations, and supports institutional enrollment and academic operations through effective records management, reporting, and customer service.
- Manages and oversees the operations of the Registrar's Office to manage student records and data as a key function of campus enrollment management.
- Supervises staff in the completion of duties and responsibilities; trains staff; prepares performance evaluations.
- Manages the departmental budget and secures resources to support related initiatives and services.
- Represents the Registrar's Office on campus committees, through ad hoc assignments, and at meetings and events.
- Serves as institutional liaison to the University System of Georgia and other agencies as assigned.
- Plans and implements policies and ensures compliance with system policies and state and federal laws.
- Coordinates the student records management program.
- Prepares the student information system for recurring processes by term; processes course registration, enrollment, and grade information.
- Leads annual reporting processes for students and educational activities to governmental and educational agencies.
- Ensures institutional compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Ensures appropriate operation and maintenance of the degree audit system.
- Monitors the application process for graduation and certifies candidates for degrees.
- Oversees the certification of Veteran Educational Benefits.
- Serves as Tuition Classification Officer for the institution.
- Assists students, faculty, staff, and external agencies with the resolution of problems and the interpretation and application of policies.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, information technology, or a related field.
- Three to five (3‑5) years of experience in Registrar or enrollment related services.
- Two (2) years or more of supervisory or managerial experience in Registrar or other enrollment‑related areas.
- This is a position of trust.
- Previous experience in Ellucian Banner Student Information System and Degree Works.
- Previous experience at a University System of Georgia institution.
- Master's Degree in higher education, student affairs, information technology or related field and five (5) years of Registrar or enrollment related services experience.
- Knowledge of student records management principles.
- Knowledge of college registration processes.
- Knowledge of academic grading and transcripts.
- Knowledge of data analysis and reporting.
- Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority.
- Skill in the operation of computers and job‑related software programs.
- Skill in decision making and problem solving.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
