Job SummaryPrimary responsibility will be teaching courses in the composition sequence (ENGL this 1101 and ENGL 1102), 2000‑level literature, and upper level courses as needed to support the B.S.Ed. in English in the Department of Arts and Humanities.
Responsibilities- Teaches undergraduate courses appropriate to their appointment and credentialing.
- Plans and conducts classes in a manner conducive to creating an effective learning environment, which helps students achieve the educational outcomes set by the college, the standards of the discipline, and external accrediting agencies.
- Compiles, administers and evaluates examinations and assignments appropriate to the educational outcomes of the college. These evaluations should be based on student performance.
- Serves as academic advisor to students in the faculty members discipline.
- ukhserves on appropriate faculty committees at the department, college or system level as elected by the faculty or appointed by the administration.
- May serve the college and community by providing expertise in his/her field to colleagues, schools, businesses and other organizations.
- Maintains the required number of office hours each week.
- Must be prompt and regular in performing job responsibilities.
- Complies with requirements of TITLE IX, Americans with Disabilities Act, FERPA, and other applicable state and federal statutes.
A master's degree in English or a related field.
Evidence of ability as a teacher.
Preferred Qualifications- An additional 18 graduate level hours of work coursework in digital media or communications.
- Scholarly focus on writing and rhetoric.
- Experience at the college level, both face to face and online.
- Experience working at an access institution.
