Compliance Enforcement Officer – Private Sector Housing, Barking & Dagenham, £33.33 per hour, 3-month locum position

Barking & Dagenham Council is seeking an experienced Compliance Enforcement Officer to join our dynamic Private Sector Housing division for a 3-month locum role. In this exciting opportunity, you will be earning £33.33 per hour as you tackle a variety of tasks designed to improve housing standards. Located in the vibrant community of Barking & Dagenham, you will play a key role in enforcing the Council’s property licensing schemes and ensuring tenants and landlords are well-versed in housing standards.

What you will do:
  • Conduct inspections, investigations, and enforce actions related to property licensing schemes.
  • Monitor and regulate work schedules issued on deficient properties, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Take enforcement action, including gathering evidence and issuing legal notices under relevant legislation.
  • Investigate unlicensed properties and issue penalty notices or lead prosecutions where required.
  • Work collaboratively across the council and with community partners to achieve programme outcomes.
  • Use provided technology competently for data collection and case management.
  • Provide guidance and information to stakeholders on compliance and property safety.
