Fooks & Co is a busy, friendly accountancy practice based in Bargoed. We’re a small, close-knit team with a big focus on doing things properly — delivering high-quality work, clear advice, and great service to our clients. We’re hiring an experienced practice professional who can take ownership, work proactively, and thrive in a hands-on environment.

This is a varied accounts and tax role with real responsibility. You’ll prepare accounts and tax returns, speak with clients confidently, and support the wider compliance work across the practice. We’re looking for someone who can work independently, but who also enjoys being part of a team that mucks in and supports each other.

• Preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Preparing Self Assessment tax returns for individuals and partnerships
• Preparing Corporation Tax returns
• Supporting work across payroll, VAT and CIS
• Communicating with clients professionally by phone, email and in person
• Managing deadlines, maintaining tidy working papers, and raising issues early

• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in an accountancy practice
• Qualified or qualified by experience (both welcomed)
• Proactive and organised — you can think for yourself and keep work moving
• Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
• Confident communicator with clients and colleagues
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
• Keen to learn: if you’re not experienced in every area (VAT/payroll/CIS), we’ll help you develop
