Operational Excellence Specialist

The Operational Excellence Specialist drives process improvement and efficiency across logistics operations. She/He analyzes workflows, identify bottlenecks and implement Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize performance. The specialist collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement new Digital tools, standardize procedures, enhance inventory management and reduce waste. This role ensures compliance with Regulatory and Quality regulations while maintaining high service quality and cost-effectiveness.

She/He monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and lead continuous improvement initiatives to support the best service to our customers. Additionally, they develop training programs and best practices to foster a culture of operational excellence. Their work directly contributes to reliable, timely, and compliant logistics solutions within Werfen.

Key Accountabilities

• Drive Continuous Improvement Initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma and other methodologies to optimize logistics processes.
• Drive digital transformation initiatives by leveraging technology and automation to enhance operational efficiency, especially with Manhattan, the new WMS/TMS for warehouse and transport operations within Werfen company.
• Support Manhattan WMS/TMS rollout projects and ongoing operations, including configuration support, SIT/UAT testing, issue resolution, and post-implementation optimization.
• Monitor the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance across operations.
• Facilitate Training and Coaching for teams on best practices and continuous improvement with the new Digital tools and capabilities.
• Identify and Mitigate Risks in logistics processes to maintain reliability and service quality.
• Ensure Regulatory Compliance with healthcare industry standards and quality requirements.
• Analyze Logistics Performance through data-driven perspective and identify areas for efficiency gains.
• Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report on progress toward operational excellence goals
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to align improvement initiatives with business priorities and customer needs.

Networking/Key relationships

This role reports to the COE Logistics Lead and works closely with logistics directors, managers, team leaders, and individual contributors. The position also interacts regularly with Werfen affiliates and corporate functions, including PMO, IT, Customer Service, Planning, Finance, and Technical Service, to support projects, resolve issues, and ensure alignment of logistics expectations.

Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position:

Education
:
Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.

Experience
:
Minimum 3 years of experience in Logistics or Supply Chain departments in Healthcare, Chemical or Distribution industries.

Additional Skills/Knowledge:

• Proficient computer skills including Office packet, specially Excel and Power Point
• A working knowledge of SAP is preferred
• Experience with data analysis and visualization tools, such as Power BI or Qlik Sense.
• Exposure to WMS/TMS platforms is highly valued. (e.g Manhattan Associates)
• Language:
  Spanish and English. A third language highly recommended.
