Context And Mission
We are looking for a highly motivated Intern in Library & Information Science / Biblioteconomía y Documentación to support the Project Management Office (PMO), specifically the Institutional Projects and Scientific Publications team. The selected candidate will contribute to strengthening the management of BSC’s scientific output by supporting the identification of publications, deposit into the institutional repository, review of affiliation and open access compliance, and basic bibliometric analyses.
This internship provides hands-on experience in research information management within a top-level research institution and is ideal for students aiming to specialise in scholarly communication, research support services, and bibliometrics.
- Identifying the scientific production of BSC-CNS through bibliographic databases, internal sources, and researcher input.
- Depositing scientific publications in the BSC Institutional Repository, ensuring metadata accuracy and completeness.
- Reviewing affiliation correctness, funding acknowledgements and compliance with open access requirements from national and international funders (e.g., AEI, European Commission, ERC).
- Performing basic bibliometric analyses, including publication counts, citation extraction, and KPI preparation.
- Supporting the preparation and updating of research output reports for institutional projects.
- Assisting with quality control of publication records and data cleaning tasks.
- Collaborating in the implementation of workflows connected to the future Current Research Information System (CRIS).
- Helping respond to inquiries from BSC researchers related to publications and open access.
- Education
- Student of a Bachelor’s degree in Library & Information Science, Documentation, Biblioteconomía y Documentación, or similar.
- Eligibility to sign an internship agreement with the university.
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Basic knowledge of scientific information sources and bibliographic databases.
- Interest in scholarly communication, open access, and research data management.
- Attention to detail, organisational skills, and willingness to learn new tools and workflows.
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
- Good command of English, and either Spanish or Catalan.
- Familiarity with bibliometric tools (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science).
- Knowledge of Open Access regulations or funder requirements.

- Proactive attitude and willingness to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
- The position will be located at BSC within the Directors Department.
- We offer a part-time fellowship (15h/week), a good working environment, a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible working hours, and an extensive training plan.
- Duration: 5 months
- Holidays: 22 days of holidays + 6 personal days + 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement
- Salary: competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona
- Starting date: 01/03/2026
