Sr. Welding Engineer; Off-Shift

BWX Technologies, Inc. is hiring a Sr. Welding Engineer (Off-Shift) in Barberton, Ohio. This opening is an off-shift role; new hires will train on first shift during their first 3–12 months, depending on experience.

• Preparation, review, approval and release of written welding procedures in accordance with specifications and weld procedure qualifications.
• Preparation and review of welding/fabrication plans (e.g., bead placement sketches, setup sheets, welding instructions).
• Qualification, documentation, and maintenance of welding procedures and welders/weld operators.
• Supervision of welders and welding operators on critical weld operations.
• Troubleshooting of welding operations (e.g., weldability issues, welding equipment failures).
• Identification, design, procurement, and implementation of welding equipment and/or fixture needs.

• Theoretical understanding of gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, shielded metal arc, submerged arc, and plasma arc welding processes.
• Actual welding proficiency is not required, but hands-on experience is desirable.
• Working knowledge of commercial and/or military welding qualification and fabrication specifications through practical experience and/or schooling.
• Theoretical understanding of welding of ferrous and non-ferrous base metals, including base metal microstructure, phase transformations, and filler metal selection.
• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering is required.
• Willing to work an off shift after training; shift premiums apply when moved off of 1st shift.

Salary: $63,000 - $99,000 per year in Ohio. The base salary may vary based on local market factors and candidate qualifications. The total compensation package may include bonuses and benefits. Employment is at-will where permitted, with potential changes to base pay and benefits at the company’s discretion.
