Job Purpose/Summary
Under general supervision, the Recreation Leader is responsible to plan, organize and conduct activities for program participants in any of the following areas including:
Day Camp and Park Programs, Youth and Adult Sports Programs and/or Leagues, Multi-Purpose Facilities, and/or Senior Citizens Center; and provides staff assistance as directed.
- Leadership: Contributes to a positive work culture consistent with the City of Banning Leadership Philosophy, actively welcomes new approaches to public service and supports change and process improvements at all levels within the organization.
- Management: Able to independently assess and organize personal work performance while contributing to the overall organization.

- Communication: Communicates effectively with peers, supervisors, subordinates, and individuals to whom service is provided.

- Plan, organize and conduct a program of activities at a park or multipurpose facility.
- Supervise recreation program participants
- Receive payments and maintain attendance and registration logs for classes and programs.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
- Exercise correct program safety practices.
- Open and secure facility and monitor facility while in use.
- Light cleaning of facilities.
- Promotes a positive recreation environment and good personal behavior.
- Assures consistent enforcement of rules and policies.
- Prioritizes and assigns tasks; assures that all safety rules and regulations are observed.
- Reports complaints, special requests, safety conditions, security issues and illegal activities, and resolves issues within scope of authority.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Banning and the constituent population by providing excellent customer service.
- Promotes the City goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records and City information.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
- Practices and techniques to achieve favorable public relations and appearance that projects a positive image.

- Practices and techniques to achieve group cooperation in recreation programs and light custodial maintenance techniques.
