Finance Director

The City of Banning invites experienced municipal finance leaders to step into a pivotal role during a transformative time. It needs a Finance Director who thrives in complexity and brings both operational excellence and a calm, trusted presence. As Finance Director, you will serve as the City’s Chief Financial Officer, overseeing Fiscal Services in a full-service municipality with General Fund, enterprise funds, and a municipally operated electric utility.

The City is also preparing for strategic IT upgrades that will enhance financial transparency, customer service, and internal performance. The next Finance Director will play a critical role in integrating financial leadership with digital modernization. Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• At least ten years of progressively responsible public sector finance experience, including five years in a management capacity.
• CPA, CGFO, or CGFM certifications are desirable.
• Demonstrated success in labor relations and financial leadership in a unionized environment.
