Overview
The Assistant Track and Field coach will assist the Head Track and Field coach in instructing students in the areas of the sports fundamentals, sportsmanship, and leadership.
Responsibilities- Coaching responsibilities as assigned by the head coach.
- Assist in the organization, preparation, and coaching of the Husson Track and Field Team to include: attendance at all practices and meets; recruiting and scouting off-campus.
- Implement the basic principles and policies of the athletic governing bodies (NCAA and NAC) and Husson University.
- Assist in monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure they are meeting academic course requirements and provide guidance and instruction to students to ensure success. Use of Dropout Detective.
- Assist in monitoring the conduct of the student-athletes and teaching athletes to work together.
- Assist with recruiting to include: on-campus tours, phone calls and off-campus viewing; organize overnight visits, get team hosts, and communicate with admissions.
- Develop and implement Strength and Conditioning program for all cross country and track and field programs.
- Meet daily with the head coach concerning all areas of instruction, training, scrimmages, meets, and recruiting activities.
- Assist with all aspects of meet preparation (hotels, meals, busses, travel rosters, Direct Athletics).
- Maintain Track and Field records.
- Directly responsible to the head coach for all related assignments concerning the Cross Country and Track and Field programs (fundraising, team volunteer activities, Spring Break, transportation, etc).
- Assist the Associate Director of Athletics and/or the Executive Director of Athletics with any other administrative duties/day-to-day operational and event management requirements as needed.
- Additional administrative duties will be assigned.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree required. - Experience:
Prior intercollegiate coaching and/or playing experience required. - Valid driver’s license, successful driver’s license background check, and successful completion of van familiarization course required.
- The successful candidate must possess the skills to function in a variety of roles that interact positively with the administration, faculty, coaching staff, student-athletes and all other constituents on, and off, campus.
- The successful candidate will show the ability to work successfully in a highly competitive, NCAA Division III, collegiate environment.
