American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift PCU position requiring trauma and neuro experience and a valid ME or compact RN license.
Details- Work in the Intermediate Care Unit of a Level II Trauma Center hospital
- Assignment is on PCU, serving medical/surgical, neuro, trauma, and cardiac patient populations
- 12-bed unit with typical RN patient ratios of 1:3-4, tech ratios of 1:6-12
- Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM with every other weekend rotation
- Floating may occur to ED, ICU, or CCU for intermediate assignments
- Utilizes Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, and GE monitors
- General hospital orientation and one day of unit orientation provided
- Active ME or compact RN license
- Minimum 1 year of intermediate or PCU experience, or 2 years Med/Surg with some PCU exposure
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience with trauma patients, stroke care with Q2H neuro checks, and trauma level II patient care
- Experience managing high flow O2, chest tubes, wound vacs, trach care, and ventilated patients
- Strong skills in cardiac monitoring, temporary pacemakers, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Proficient with cardiac (Amio, Cardizem) and insulin drips; experience titrating medications is required
- Cerner EMR experience highly preferred
- Must not have ever worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity
- Flu vaccination required for all assignments starting after 9/30/2024, with medical exemptions considered
- Provide care for complex cardiac, medical/surgical, neuro, and trauma patients in a fast-paced environment
- Support from charge nurse, CNAs, 24/7 resource nurse (ICU-trained), respiratory therapy, phlebotomy, hospitalist, and PT/OT
- RN responsible for starting own peripheral IVs; IV/VAT team available for US-guided IVs and PICC/Midline
- Scrub color is flexible but must be professional
- Free parking available in designated areas
- Holiday coverage may be required based on unit needs
- First-time travelers must have completed at least two prior 13-week assignments as a traveler
- Candidates must have a permanent address at least 100 miles south/southwest of the hospital for consideration
