Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing required

Certifications:

BLS; MOAB obtained on site as part of orientation

Must-Have:

- De-escalation experience

- Experience with physical restraints (chemical restraints are NOT used)
- Medication administration experience
- Comfortability in running group sessions
- Documentation skills

Description:

Immediate start needed.

Interviews conducted followed by manager approval.

Must be willing to float between adult and pediatric units.

Variable hours, predominantly from 07:00 to 19:30, but may include 06:00 to 15:30 or 14:00 to 23:30 if required.

Facility includes 94 beds, with 50 for pediatrics and 44 for adults.

Children served are ages 5-18 years old.

Adult patients are 18 years and older, including geriatric patients.

Common pediatric diagnoses include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, op positional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria.

Adult patients may present with schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and may also include eating disorders, suicidal ideation, and anxiety.

Patients are typically involuntary and voluntary admissions.

Facility does not accommodate forensic patients or inmates.

The facility is secure but not to the degree of holding patients under arrest.

Seclusion rooms are utilized when necessary.

Occasionally, substance use disorder or detoxing patients may be admitted, provided they are medically cleared.

Routine medical and psychiatric care is offered alongside specialized therapies such as pet therapy, group sessions, and community gardens.

Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1:5-6 during the day and 1:13 at night, with resource support available.

Support staff includes a Nurse Supervisor available during evenings and weekends, a Nurse Manager during days, and administrative staff available overnight.

Charge nurses may carry patient assignments.

Psychiatric Technicians available for both pediatric and adult units.

A contracted phlebotomist for lab draws and a Nurse Practitioner on site until 16:00 with on-call availability overnight.

Psychiatrists conduct daily rounds and are available for on-call support.

Security personnel are present but do not respond to patient escalations; staff from all units respond to these situations.

Charting is conducted using a specific electronic health record system.

Staff may float between all units serving both adults and pediatrics.

Weekend rotation is every other weekend.

Holiday work is required as part of the staffing rotation.

Approval for time off is limited to 7 days; accommodations for shift coverage may be necessary if unable to work all scheduled shifts.

Scrubs must be professional and in a solid color.
