Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Medical Technician (LPN) to provide exceptional medication administration and patient care on a long-term care or skilled nursing unit. This contract role involves splitting shifts as a Charge Nurse and Med Tech. The LPN will report to the Director of Nursing and follow standard nursing procedures and facility policies to administer medications safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer medications by oral, rectal, topical, inhalation, eye, or ear routes under RN supervision, following facility policies.
  • Maintain medication cart and storage areas, ensuring cleanliness and security.
  • Obtain permission from a licensed nurse before administering PRN medications.
  • Perform counts of non-narcotic medications at the start and end of each shift with another LPN or medication technician.
  • Do not administer Schedule II or sliding scale drugs.
  • Monitor medication supply for each resident and coordinate reorders with nursing staff.
  • Take vital signs, including apical pulse, and report significant changes promptly.
  • Document all administered medications on MAR per policy.
  • Work effectively amid interruptions and handle interactions with emotionally upset residents, patients, and families professionally.
  • Communicate clearly with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other supervisors.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, integrity, and the ability to work independently while providing compassionate care to long-term care and rehabilitation patients.
