Our Client, a Healthcare company, is looking for a Charge Nurse/ Medical Technician (LPN) for their Bangor, ME location.
Responsibilities:- The Certified Medical Technician (CMT) is a C.N.A/M or LPN who is responsible for the medication administration of the assigned nursing unit (long term care or skilled care) as well as performing all the essential job functions of a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A).
- Although the C.N.A/M is responsible for the accurate administration of medications, these responsibilities may be delegated in whole or in part to other members of the staff as directed by the nursing administration.
- This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing and follows standard nursing procedures and facility policies for administering medication.
- Able to administer medication by oral, rectal, topical, inhalation, eye or ear routes, under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse by following standard nursing procedures and facility policies for administering medication including but not limited to the following:
- Maintains medication cart and ensures storage area is clean, neat, and areas are locked if appropriate
- Obtains permission from licensed nurse before administering PRN medication
- Performs the count of non-narcotic countable medications with medication technician or licensed nurse at beginning and end of shift.
- Administers no Schedule II drugs or any sliding scale drugs
- Checks supply of medications for each resident on unit and coordinates with nursing staff for any reorder medication needs
- Takes vital signs, following correct procedure, including apical pulse rates
- Reports any significant changes in resident condition or vital signs to Charge Nurse or Supervisor, promptly.
- Documents medication administered on MAR per facility policy and procedures.
- Must be comfortable working with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to work with emotionally upset residents/patients and family members.
- Can communicate effectively with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors.
- Has a passion for working with long term care residents and skilled rehabilitation patients to provide excellent resident and patient care.
- Ability to work independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents/patients, personnel, and support agencies.
