Charge Nurse / Medical Technician (LPN) – Long-Term Care | Contract
We are seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve in a dual-role position as Charge Nurse and Certified Medical Technician (CMT) for a 13-week contract assignment in a long-term care/skilled nursing setting. This role is ideal for an LPN who is confident in medication administration, leadership, and hands-on resident care.

Role Overview:
This position splits responsibilities between Charge Nurse duties and Medical Technician (CMT) functions. The LPN is responsible for medication administration for the assigned unit while also performing essential CNA-related duties. The role reports directly to nursing leadership and follows established nursing standards and facility policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer medications via oral, rectal, topical, inhalation, eye, and ear routes under RN supervision
- Maintain medication carts and ensure secure, organized storage areas
- Obtain authorization from licensed nursing staff prior to administering PRN medications
- Perform non-narcotic medication counts at the beginning and end of shifts
- Monitor medication supplies and coordinate refills with nursing staff
- Take and document vital signs, including apical pulse rates
- Accurately document medication administration on the MAR
- Report significant changes in resident condition or vital signs promptly
- Provide direct resident care consistent with CNA responsibilities as needed
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, medical providers, and interdisciplinary teams
- Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
Required Qualifications:
- Active state LPN license
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in long-term care or skilled nursing
- Current BLS/BCLS certification
- Strong medication administration and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
Additional Requirements:
- Travelers must reside at least 50 miles from the work location
- Assignment may include up to three shift cancellations during the 13-week term
