Job Summary
Penquis, a leading social services agency with over 50 years of community impact across Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties, is seeking a full‑time Loan Originator. As the Loan Originator, you are responsible for generating residential mortgages and commercial loan business in full compliance with established lending policies and regulatory requirements. You support sector‑specific underwriting activities and manage direct client interactions throughout the entire loan cycle.
Additionally, you cultivate relationships with financial institutions and real‑estate professionals, represent the organization at community events, collaborate with local organizations, and proactively seek strategic partnership opportunities.
Bangor, Maine. This is a full‑time hybrid position based out of our Bangor location.
Responsibilities- Serve as initial point of contact for inquiries, including clients seeking to learn more about Maine Stream’s range of lending programs and provide loan applications and initial instructions, if applicable.
- Originate, process, prepare for review and assist with underwriting loans in accordance with loan policies and regulatory guidance.
- Close approved loans in accordance with committee approval and regulatory guidance and ensure all loan documents and files are complete.
- Ensure files are maintained with relevant documents (e.g. insurance, taxes, UCC, financial data, and other required information).
- Upon executive approval, pursue appropriate partnership opportunities with other lending institutions and collaborative partners.
- Attend community events and build relationships with industry partners.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, real estate agents, builders, and other referral sources.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field and 3‑5 years related industry experience in finance or real estate.
- Must obtain or be willing to obtain and maintain an active Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) license, including the completion of required annual continuing education.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in serving clients.
- Excellent math/computational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a pipeline of loans.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
The salary range for this position starts at $54,550 commensurate with experience and qualifications. Those with related education and experience are encouraged to apply.
