Project Manager – Responsibilities

Haley Ward is looking for a Project Manager for our Bangor, ME office. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, designing, and controlling the activities of projects to effectively complete them while operating within established schedules, budgets, and QA/QC policy constraints.

The ideal candidate should possess a background in project management and hands‑on experience in the planning and design of water and wastewater pipelines, pump stations, and water/wastewater treatment facilities. Experience with municipal roadways, sidewalks and stormwater management would be highly beneficial. Relevant expertise includes hydraulic modeling, hydrology modeling programs, storm drainage systems, equipment selection, specification writing, cost estimation, feasibility studies, master planning, construction document development, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

  • Conduct design concepts of professional, economical, and effective plans and specifications.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of engineers, technicians, and designers.
  • Manage projects, oversee and delegate tasks, and engage in design of projects.
  • Prepare agreements including scope, schedule, work plan, fees, and monitor financial performance of projects.
  • Participate in career path planning and development, performance plans, mentoring, and resource sharing for supervised team members.
  • Cultivate personal business relationships and seek opportunities for cross‑selling to enhance and expand existing client relationships during and after projects.
  • Support communities in developing long‑term investment plans and provide guidance on sourcing and securing project funding.
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Advanced degree or experience in the area of work specialization is desirable.
  • Minimum of eight years of related industry experience preferred.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer required.
  • Sound mathematical skills required.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Leadership acumen essential.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

A criminal background check and driving record check will be conducted.
