Position OverviewBlue Hill Consolidated School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Art Teacher to join our PK–8 learning community for the 2026-27 school year. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about fostering creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression while building positive relationships with students across developmental levels.
Responsibilities Include- Develop and implement a standards-based PK–8 visual arts curriculum
- Teach foundational art skills, techniques, art history, and creative problem-solving
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
- Integrate art with other subject areas when appropriate
- Organize and display student artwork throughout the school and community
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and administration
- Collaborate with the Gifted & Talented teacher to plan and coordinate three annual art enrichment field trips for students identified in the visual arts
- Participate in school events, exhibitions, and family engagement opportunities
- Maine DOE certification (or eligibility) in Art (K–12)
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Experience working with elementary and middle school students preferred
- Ability to build strong relationships with students and families
- Commitment to collaboration and continuous professional growth
