Overview
The School of Accounting in the College of Business invites applications for an Instructor or Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026.
Responsibilities- Teach 24 credits per academic year in introductory, intermediate, and advanced accounting, managerial accounting, cost accounting, federal tax, non‑profit accounting, and internships.
- Prepare course materials and use appropriate teaching techniques, including face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online delivery via Canvas.
- Deliver experiential and applied learning, incorporating campus technology and aligning all course delivery with IACBE accreditation standards.
- Contribute to development and revision of course content, textbook and equipment selection, and assessment strategies.
- Apply emerging technologies and advances to perform duties efficiently, organized, and timely.
- Maintain current knowledge of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment.
- Remain current in areas of expertise through continual study and scholarship, and provide assistance with curriculum development.
- Connect with local firms for internships and job placements, advise Accounting Society, and participate in School, College, and University meetings and activities.
- Advise students in the College of Business according to the Husson University Advising Manual, employ retention strategies, and maintain weekly office hours.
- Master’s degree (MBA or Masters in Accounting) or equivalent plus CPA or CMA and several years of industry experience required; terminal degree (PhD, DBA) desired; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching face‑to‑face, in a hybrid environment, or online with specific knowledge and ability to teach undergraduate business courses.
- Industry experience required; ability to lead and strong communication skills.
- Connections with local and Maine accounting firms preferred; mastery of appropriate computer operation skills.
- Dynamic, energetic, creative, and engaging with strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a commitment to cultural diversity and inclusive education.
- Commitment to Husson University’s mission and the highest ethical standards.
- Effectively communicate with students and other faculty.
- Read and interpret with vision ability for close and distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to twenty‑five pounds.
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Bend, kneel, and reach with the use of hands and arms.
- Utilize telephone, email, and other university communications systems.
- Operate a computer, copier, printer, television, and projector.
