We are seeking an energetic, highly organized, and creative Marketing and Operations Coordinator to play a key role in our daily operations and public-facing work.

The Opportunity

The Marketing and Operations Coordinator is a central member of our team, supporting the day-to-day operations of the Museum and the public programs of the Foundation. This role blends operations, marketing, community engagement, and event support and works closely with the Executive Director and leadership team.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with people, and wants to make a visible impact in a mission-driven organization.

What You Will Do Marketing, Communications, and Social Media
  • Lead and enhance the Museum and Foundation’s social media presence on Facebook and Instagram
  • Create, schedule, and manage engaging content that reflects our mission and brand
  • Support press releases, flyers, promotional materials, and outreach campaigns
  • Assist with marketing initiatives that grow attendance and program participation
  • Maintain website content and ensure consistent branding and messaging
Events and Programs
  • Coordinate event planning, logistics, room setup, AV needs, signage, and vendor support
  • Provide on-site support during public events and programs
  • Coordinate with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth event execution
Daily Operations
  • Support daily Museum operations including school visits and community group visits
  • Maintain accurate staff, school, and public calendars
  • Prepare spaces for programs, meetings, and special events
  • Serve as a welcoming point of contact for visitors and inquiries
  • Respond to website inquiries and address visitor concerns professionally
School and Educational Partnerships
  • Expand relationships with schools and educators, particularly in communities north of the Kennebec River
  • Coordinate logistics for school visits in collaboration with the Operations Assistant
  • Communicate clearly with teachers to ensure successful visits
Community Engagement
  • Provide operational support to the Executive Director and President
  • Represent the organization at community events and meetings
  • Build positive relationships with schools, community leaders, and partner organizations
What We Are Looking For
  • Strong experience managing social media platforms and marketing tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and adaptable
  • Professional, welcoming, and confident with the public
  • Self-motivated with strong judgment and integrity
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for events
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Appreciation for Maine’s people, culture, and history
  • Local residence preferred
Compensation and Benefits
  • Compensation range of $55k-$65k based on relevant experience
