This post is Fixed term/Secondment for 3 months to meet the needs of the service. Exciting opportunity for band 6, 3 month secondment position on Ogwen Ward. Ysbyty Bangor has an exciting opportunity within the Trauma & Orthopaedic team, who are looking for a Band 6 charge nurse/sister.
Main duties of the jobSURGICAL DIRECTORATE
1 x BAND 6 SISTER / CHARGE NURSE – Ogwen Ward, Trauma & Orthopaedic
An opportunity has arisen for one Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse for Ogwen ward – Trauma & Orthopaedics. All applicants must be a Registered Nurse, with recent experience at Band 5 and meet the Band 6 Job Description person specification. Experience in both pathways is essential for this Senior Nursing post holder.
Post – 37.5 hours per week.
The position involves working as an Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse on Ogwen Ward, with a Trauma and Orthopaedics speciality. Candidates should be able to provide evidence of personal and professional development and it is essential that the post holder has a good understanding of the dynamics of team work as they will be expected to work closely with multidisciplinary personnel.
The post holder must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, leadership, a positive outlook, enthusiasm and the ability to learn and develop new skills.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Person specification Qualifications- NMC Registered Nurse
- Diploma in Nursing
- ILS
- Degree in Nursing or relevant clinical/professional subject
- Management learning
- Significant post registration experience at band 5
- Experience with in an appropriate orthopaedic clinical area
- Experience of undertaking audit work and standard setting
- Evidence of good ward organisational skills
- Problem solver
- Negotiate and communicate with patients and members of MDT team
- IT Skills, Email, Word
- Advanced clinical skills - venepuncture, phlebotomy, ECG
- Adapt and propose change in working situation
Essential Criteria
- Evidence of knowledge and application of consent, data protection, patient confidentiality
- Evidence of local policies and procedures and guidelines
- Interview and appraisal process
