The Vacancy
Fortia Insight, part of the renowned RSK Group – the UK’s largest provider of environmental and sustainability consulting services – is seeking a senior consultant to join our established and growing energy and environment evaluation team on a full‑time permanent basis. To be based at one of our offices across the UK:
Belfast, Bristol, Cambridge, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle.
Our team brings deep analytical insight and cross‑sector expertise to help our clients shape and respond to the energy and environmental policy agenda. Our work encompasses process, impact and value for money evaluation. We are currently evaluating government interventions in heat‑network development, biodiversity, climate research, green skills and across a range of clean energy technologies.
The RoleAs Senior Consultant, you will:
- Lead and deliver monitoring and evaluation projects, including designing theories of change and evaluation frameworks
- Manage a portfolio of work and junior team members
- Ensure high‑quality client service through effective communication and creative problem‑solving
- Contribute to business development and bid writing
- Collaborate with colleagues to refine and develop services
- Design and delivery of research, monitoring and evaluation services
- Managing projects and junior staff
- Generating new business and contributing to bids
- Supporting service development and innovation
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree in any Social Science, Science, Humanities or Business
- Experience of policy and programme evaluation
- Experience of carrying out research and evaluation of energy and/or environmental programmes
- Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Working knowledge of HM Treasury Magenta Book, Green Book, and Aqua Book guidance
- Proven project delivery and business development success
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (R or Python desirable)
- Strong written communication and report writing skills
- Self‑motivated, able to manage workload and priorities independently
- Work on projects that matter, in a collaborative and supportive environment.
