Position Overview

The Team Leader within the Aerospace Department at Denroy Plastics is responsible for the ongoing development and performance of an established team. The primary focus of this role is on people development, using Personal Development Plans (PDPs) and structured training programmes to ensure the team consistently meets the demands of both new and existing aerospace customers. Additionally, the Team Leader will be responsible for issuing jobs to the team and managing their progress through each stage of production, ensuring timely and efficient completion.

The Team Leader will report directly to the Section Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and support the aerospace team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Develop, implement, and review Personal Development Plans (PDPs) for all team members, identifying individual strengths and areas for development.
  • Design and deliver targeted training plans to address skill gaps and support career progression within the team.
  • Issue jobs to team members, ensuring clarity in instructions and expectations for production tasks.
  • Manage and oversee all jobs as they progress through the production process, ensuring deadlines, quality, and customer requirements are met.
  • Monitor team performance against departmental objectives, ensuring delivery of high‑quality products and services to aerospace customers.
  • Act as a point of contact for team members, providing guidance, feedback, and support as required.
  • Collaborate with the Section Manager to align people development initiatives with wider departmental and business goals.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and one-to-one sessions to communicate expectations, track progress, and address challenges.
  • Support the onboarding and integration of new team members, ensuring they receive appropriate training and support.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive working environment in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in team leadership, ideally within the aerospace or plastics manufacturing sector.
  • Strong understanding of people development strategies, including PDPs and training frameworks.
  • Experience in production management, including job allocation and workflow monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage others.
  • Organisational and time management skills, with a focus on delivering results through others.
  • Ability to analyse performance data and implement improvement actions.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer service.
Essential Criteria
  • The candidate will have a good standard of education, which includes English and Maths grade C or above and at least 2 year's supervisory experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The candidate must have a good knowledge of current manufacturing methods and technologies and be familiar with lean tools such as kaizen, 5s, TPM, 8D reports and SPC;
  • Experience of disciplinary procedures and implementation;
  • Willing to support health and safety policy implementation;
  • A collaborative approach to managing quality standards and procedures;
  • Experience of performance monitoring and management;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including word, excel, office & Teams.
Desirable Criteria
  • A management/supervisory qualification to Level 3;
  • Manual handling training; and
  • First aid training To perform any other duties appropriate to the grade and role of the post holder.
