Category Merchandiser - Buyer

Location: Bengaluru

Sunglasses & Optical frames Category Merchandiser is responsible for brand positioning of the category through effective assortment planning, vendor management and pricing strategy. Role ensures right product mix is available at stores to meet customer and business demands.
1. Assortment Planning & Buying

· Develop seasonal and annual buying plan.

· Curate product assortment based on trends, customer preferences, and sales performance.

· Ensure balanced mix across price points, brands, styles, and target segments.

· Monitor sell-through and adjust assortment accordingly.

· Stay updated on fashion trends, seasonal demand, and competitor activities.

· Conduct market visits and competitor benchmarking.

· Translate trends into actionable buying and merchandising decisions.
2. Vendor Management

· Coordinate with partners and suppliers for product selection and order placement.

· Negotiate pricing, margins, and other business commercial terms.

· Track vendor performance on delivery timelines, quality, and fill rates.

· Identify and onboard new brands aligned with category strategy.
3. Inventory & Replenishment

· Plan inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing aging stock.

· Monitor stock cover, replenishment cycles, and slow/fast movers.

· Drive stock liquidation strategies for end-of-season or non-performing SKUs.

· Define pricing strategy in line with brand positioning and margin targets.
4. Performance Analysis

· Prepare periodic performance reports and insights

· Recommend corrective actions based on data trends
6. Visual Merchandising & In-Store Execution

· Work closely with VM and retail teams to ensure strong in-store presentation

· Support planogram development and product placement strategies

· Ensure timely launch of new collections across stores
Key Skills & Competencies

· Good analytical and numerical ability

· Understanding of eyewear retail trends

· Negotiation and vendor management skills

· Planning and forecasting capability

· Proficiency in excel

· Good coordination and communication skills
Qualifications & Experience

· Bachelor's degree in Fashion or related field.w

· 3–6 years of experience in category merchandising/buying (fashion, accessories, or eyewear preferred)
