Nautobot Expert – Asset Management

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced  Nautobot Expert  to lead, design, and optimize asset management capabilities within our network infrastructure ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with  Nautobot ,  Net Box (legacy or comparative) , and modern network automation frameworks. This role is critical for establishing a robust source of truth (SoT), ensuring accurate asset lifecycle tracking, and enabling automation-driven operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Nautobot Platform Ownership
Design, implement, and maintain  Nautobot  as the central Source of Truth for network and infrastructure assets.
Configure and customize Nautobot plugins, models, views, job frameworks, and data validation rules.
Integrate Nautobot with enterprise systems (e.g., CMDB, IPAM, DCIM, CI/CD pipelines).
2. Asset Management & Data Quality
Build and manage comprehensive asset management processes—including hardware, software, licenses, and configuration items.
Ensure ongoing data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organizational standards.
Develop data validation, synchronization, and reconciliation workflows.
3. Automation Development
Integrate Nautobot with automation tools such as  Ansible ,  Python ,  REST APIs ,  Graph

QL , and  CI/CD pipelines .
Develop custom Nautobot Jobs, scripts, and plugins to streamline asset lifecycle workflows (provisioning, updates, decommissioning).
4. Cross-functional Collaboration
Work closely with network engineering, cloud engineering, security, IT operations, and service management teams.
Translate business and operational requirements into technical solutions within Nautobot.
Provide guidance and best practices for data modeling, object relationships, and automation integration.
5. Governance & Documentation
Establish governance processes for asset updates and change management within Nautobot.
Maintain documentation for workflows, integrations, data schemas, and automation artifacts.
Train internal teams on Nautobot usage, best practices, and workflows.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

3–7+ years  of experience in network automation, Net Dev Ops , or infrastructure engineering.
Strong expertise with  Nautobot , including customization, plugin development, and job frameworks.
Proficiency in  Python  for automation and scripting.

Experience with  Ansible automation  and playbook development.
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (L2/L3, routing, VLANs, IPAM, device roles, etc.).
Familiarity with  RESTful APIs ,  Graph

QL , and webhook integrations.

Experience with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and Dev Ops workflows.
Preferred

Experience with Net Box migrations or Nautobot adoption programs.
Background in DCIM, CMDB integration, asset inventory governance.
Exposure to containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
