About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic SAP Finance and Controlling (FICO) Manager to lead the design and implementation of SAP S/4
HANA Finance solutions for large-scale transformation programs. The ideal candidate will possess deep functional expertise in SAP FICO, strong leadership in project delivery, and exposure to modern SAP offerings such as RISE with SAP, SAP BTP, and SAP Activate methodology.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the SAP FICO workstream in SAP S/4
HANA implementation projects, ensuring alignment with client financial processes and SAP best practices.
Design and configure SAP FICO components including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Bank Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Profit Center Accounting, Internal Orders, Product Costing, and COPA.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with MM, SD, PP, PS, and HR modules.
Conduct client workshops, gather requirements, perform FIT-GAP analysis, and prepare functional specifications.
Oversee the development and delivery of WRICEF objects in coordination with technical teams.
Support testing cycles (SIT, UAT), data migration, cutover planning, and post-go-live support.
Provide guidance on RISE with SAP, SAP BTP, and SAP Activate adoption strategies.
Mentor junior consultants and contribute to internal knowledge development and capability building.
Ensure project governance, risk management, and quality assurance across all phases of delivery.
Required Bilingual Soft Skills
Strong bilingual communication skills in Japanese (preferably JLPT/NAT N3 or above) to effectively interact with Japanese clients and stakeholders.
Ability to clearly articulate requirements, issues, and solutions in both Japanese and English across cross-functional teams.
Strong command over both languages to influence key stakeholders through business acumen, technical understanding, and interpersonal skills in a multicultural environment.
Prior experience in managing expectations and driving alignment between Japanese-speaking stakeholders and global teams.
Ability to understand SAP functional and technical requirements in Japanese and deliver as per client expectations through effective communication
Experience working in Japan or with Japan-based clients or team is an added advantage.
Required Skills & Experience
10+ years of SAP experience with at least 2 full-cycle SAP S/4
HANA implementations in the Finance and Controlling domain.
Strong hands-on experience in SAP FICO configuration, including financial accounting, controlling, and integration with logistics modules.
Deep understanding of SAP S/4
HANA innovations such as Universal Journal, Group Reporting, and Central Finance.
Familiarity with SAP Activate methodology, Fit-to-Standard approach, and Agile/Hybrid delivery models.
Proven experience in managing client relationships and leading functional teams.
Strong cross-module integration knowledge with MM, SD, PP, PS, and HR.
Exposure to SAP BTP, GROW with SAP, and Fiori-based financial apps is a plus.
Certifications
Required:
SAP S/4
HANA Finance Certification
Preferable: Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP, Prince2)
Educational Background
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field (B.Tech, MBA, CA, etc.)
