Role Overview
We are looking for a Technical Lead – Data Engineering to design and build highly scalable, fault-tolerant distributed data platforms.
This role requires a strong foundation in backend development combined with deep expertise in big data technologies. You will lead architecture decisions, remain hands-on with coding, and work directly with senior client stakeholders.
This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Engineering
Design, develop, and evolve highly scalable distributed systems using big data technologies
Build fault-tolerant, high-performance data platforms handling massive datasets
Design and implement APIs, abstractions, and integration patterns
Define technical requirements and drive data extraction, transformation, and productionization
Explore and implement emerging technologies in parallel processing environments
Leadership & Ownership
Provide day-to-day technical leadership to engineering teams
Guide developers on architecture, design patterns, and coding best practices
Participate in hiring and mentoring top engineering talent
Stay updated with emerging technologies to ensure maximum ROI for customers
Client Engagement
Interface with Fortune 500 customers to understand strategic requirements
Engage with VP and Director-level stakeholders
Translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions
Travel to client locations as required

Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in software engineering / data engineering
Strong foundation in backend development (Java / Python / Scala preferred)
Proven experience in designing and delivering enterprise-scale distributed systems
Hands-on expertise in Hadoop, Spark, or similar big data technologies
Experience working with large and complex datasets
Strong understanding of object-oriented and functional programming

Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS
Expertise in Spark, Hadoop, and GCS stack
Strong problem-solving and system design skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in architecting and maintaining large-scale big data platforms
Hands-on experience across the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Map Reduce, Hive, Impala, Kafka, etc.)
Experience in database modeling, warehousing, and data mining
Experience working in Agile environments
Prior experience in high-growth or startup environments
