Job Description
We are looking for a  Senior Postgre

SQL Database Administrator (DBA)  with strong hands-on expertise in Postgre

SQL and Linux environments. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience managing  large-scale production databases , handling performance tuning, high availability, and mentoring junior DBAs. Exposure to  Dev Ops tools and Cloud platforms  is a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, administer, and maintain  Postgre

SQL databases  in Linux / Unix operating systems
Own and manage  production Postgre

SQL environments  with high availability and performance requirements
Perform advanced  database monitoring, performance tuning, and query optimization
Design and optimize complex  SQL queries, functions, views, procedures , and schemas
Implement and manage  backup, restore, disaster recovery, and data retention strategies
Handle  user access management, roles, privileges, and database security
Perform  Postgre

SQL patching, version upgrades, migrations, and capacity planning
Troubleshoot critical database issues and lead  production incident resolution
Work closely with  application, Dev Ops, infrastructure, and cloud teams
Mentor and guide junior DBAs , review their work, and provide technical leadership
Contribute to  DBA standards, best practices, documentation, and automation
Participate in  on-call / shift-based support  and ensure SLA compliance
Ability to setup or contribute to the DBA capability /practice initiatives.

Skills & Qualifications
6–10 years of hands-on experience  as a Postgre

SQL DBA
Strong expertise in  Postgre

SQL SQL and internals
Excellent hands-on experience with  Linux / Unix systems
Strong understanding of:
Indexing strategies
Query execution plans
Vacuum / Autovacuum tuning
Replication (Streaming, Logical)
High Availability and Failover concepts
Proven experience working in  production database environments
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Experience in handling  performance bottlenecks and database incidents
Ability to  lead technical discussions and guide junior team members

Good to Have (Plus Skills)
Exposure to  Cloud platforms  (AWS / Azure / GCP)

Experience with  Dev Ops concepts and tools
CI/CD pipelines and database automation
Monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
Knowledge of  containerization  (Docker / Kubernetes)

Experience with  database migration tools
Scripting experience (Shell / Python) for automation
