Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to lead our Project Support Software Development Team within a fast-paced consultancy environment. This role is ideal for a former software developer who has progressed into a leadership role such as Scrum Master, Project Lead, or Delivery Lead, and who enjoys balancing technical authority, delivery oversight, and team leadership.
You will provide technical direction across a large portfolio of projects (150+), spanning multiple technologies and client requirements. This role requires strong prioritization, adaptability, and the ability to support multiple teams and stakeholders simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership

• Act as the senior technical authority for the team, setting development standards, architectural principles, and best practices across diverse tech stacks.

• Provide technical oversight for multiple concurrent projects, ensuring quality, security, and maintainability.

• Review designs and critical code, supporting complex problem-solving and technical escalation.

• Guide technology selection and solution design in line with client and business needs.

• Proactively identify and manage technical risk and debt.

Delivery Oversight & Project Support

• Support the planning, scoping, and estimation of project work.

• Prioritize team workloads across a high volume of parallel projects.

• Identify delivery risks, resourcing constraints, and dependencies.

• Ensure clear documentation, handovers, and support processes are followed.

People & Capability Development

• Line-manage, mentor, and coach developers across varying experience levels.

• Support continuous learning across multiple tech stacks and project types.

• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and development planning.

• Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and collaboration.

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

• Translate client and business needs into clear technical approaches.

• Communicate progress, risks, and constraints to non-technical stakeholders.

• Support presales activity, technical discovery, and solution proposals where required.

• Act as a trusted technical advisor internally and externally

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong background as a Software Developer.

• Proven experience as a Technical Lead, Delivery Lead, Project Lead, or Scrum Master in a consultancy or multi-project environment.

• Experience working across multiple technology stacks and project types.

• Strong understanding of modern development practices (CI/CD, testing strategies, version control, cloud platforms).

• Excellent prioritization and decision-making skills in high-volume environments.

• Strong stakeholder and client-facing communication skills.

• Ability to balance hands-on technical input with strategic oversight.

Desirable

• Consultancy or agency background.

• Experience supporting enterprise clients and complex environments.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Knowledge of Dev Ops, security, and compliance best practices.

• Relevant leadership or technical certifications.
