The Checkpoint Firewall L1 Engineer will provide first-level support and monitoring for Checkpoint firewalls, ensuring continuous protection of network infrastructure, timely response to security events, and adherence to defined SLAs. The role is based in Bangalore for junior security professionals with 1–3 years of hands-on firewall and network security exposure.

Key Responsibilities
Monitor Checkpoint firewall logs, alerts, and dashboards to detect anomalies, security threats, and policy violations in real time, and escalate as per SOPs.
Provide first-level troubleshooting for firewall-related incidents, basic connectivity issues, and user access problems, including ticket creation, classification, and initial diagnosis.
Perform day-to-day health checks of firewall devices, including interface status, CPU/memory utilization, VPN status, and basic policy verification.
Apply approved firewall rule changes, object modifications, and basic NAT changes under supervision, ensuring adherence to security standards and change management processes.
Document incidents, actions taken, and resolutions in the ticketing system, and update runbooks or SOPs as required for recurring issues.
Coordinate with L2/L3 firewall or network security teams for complex incidents, change implementations, and problem management activities.

Key Requirements:

1–3 years of hands-on experience with Checkpoint firewalls (Smart Console, policy management, log monitoring, and basic troubleshooting) in an enterprise or MSP environment.
Good understanding of network fundament als: TCP/IP, subnets, routing basics, VPN concepts, NAT, and common ports/protocols relevant to firewall policies.
Exposure to firewall operations tasks such as rule review, basic policy changes, VPN status checks, and health monitoring for security devices.
Experience working in ticket-based support environments (NOC/SOC or IT support) with incident and change management workflows using standard ITSM tools.
Ability to analyze firewall logs, identify patterns, and perform initial triage for potential security events or connectivity problems.
Good communication skills to interact with internal teams, log clear ticket updates, and follow documented procedures accurately.
