Job Title:
Data Engineer
Experience Level: 5–7 Years
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer with extensive experience in Azure cloud services, Python, and SQL to design and maintain scalable data pipelines for healthcare data. The ideal candidate will have expertise in ETL processes, data governance, and metadata management, as well as experience collaborating with external partners and internal teams. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver secure, high-quality data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for healthcare data using Azure services.
Implement ETL processes, including SFTP ingestion and file movement.
Work with external partners such as PBMs, TPAs, cost management vendors, and carriers to ensure accurate data integration.
Develop and optimize database schemas, data models, and data layers for API distribution, reporting, analytics, and extraction.
Apply AI techniques to datasets and prepare data for machine learning models.
Implement complex data logic using Python and SQL.
Ensure data quality checks, incremental processing, and change data capture.
Build logging, encryption, and security measures for data pipelines.
Manage metadata and master data, maintain data dictionaries, and enforce data governance using tools like Azure Purview.
Version datasets and data models for consistency and traceability.
Package solutions for deployment and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure Dev Ops (ADO).
Collaborate with architects, product owners, and development teams in an Agile environment.
Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards and security requirements.
Required
Skills & Qualifications
5–7 years of experience in data engineering.
Extensive experience with:
Azure cloud services (Data Factory, Synapse, Lakehouse, etc.)
Python and SQL (advanced query optimization and scripting)
Strong understanding of:
ETL processes, SFTP ingestion, and file movement
Database and schema design
Data modeling for APIs, reporting, and analytics
set theory and category theory
Experience with :
CI/CD pipelines and Azure Dev Ops
Metadata management, master data management, and data governance tools (Purview)
Ability to implement incremental processing, change data capture, and data quality checks.
Familiarity with AI/ML data preparation and healthcare data standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with healthcare data (claims, Px data).
Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and security best practices.
Certification in Azure Data Engineering or related fields.
Flyway for data workflows
