Job Description Summary
We are seeking a Scrum Master who combines Agile expertise with a rigorous mindset for regulatory compliance. You will serve as the operational backbone of the EDS team.
The Scrum Master is the operational anchor responsible for team velocity, predictability, and capacity planning. You orchestrate the team's delivery rhythm, ensuring that sprint commitments are based on realistic forecasting rather than optimistic guessing.
You proactively manage team capacity, remove impediments, and shield the engineering teams from distractions to maintain a high-performance environment where delivery is consistent and reliable.
About EDS
EDS is the unified digital platform that powers GE Health Care's global software portfolio. It serves as a comprehensive library of reusable UI components, design patterns, and accessibility standards that bridge the critical gap between User Experience (UX) and Engineering. By fostering a philosophy of 'reduce, reuse, and recycle,' EDS enables hundreds of product teams to eliminate redundant coding and design work.
We provide the foundational building blocks that ensure our clinical and operational applications are intuitive, consistent, and accessible, allowing teams to focus on patient safety.
EDS is the critical path for GE Health Care's software portfolio. Our downstream products cannot ship without our components. This requires a Scrum Master who can shield the team from distractions while strictly enforcing the quality gates required for patient safety.
The Mission:
Velocity & Safety:
Your mission is Team Effectiveness. You are responsible for removing impediments that slow engineers down, while simultaneously ensuring that every line of code we ship meets our rigorous Quality Management System (QMS) standards. You prove that compliance and agility can coexist.
GE Healthcare is a leading global medical technology and digital solutions innovator. Our mission is to improve lives in the moments that matter. Unlock your ambition, turn ideas into world-changing realities, and join an organization where every voice makes a difference, and every difference builds a healthier world.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Agile Facilitation and Team Effectiveness
Ceremony Facilitation:
Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies (Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives) to ensure they are efficient, focused, and actionable.
Cross-Team Coordination:
Since EDS is a platform, our delivery affects hundreds of downstream products. You represent the team in Scrum of Scrums (SoS) to manage cross-team dependencies and flag risks to the Release Train, ensuring we never block a customer's launch.
Shielding the Team:
You are the team's protector. You shield the engineering team from outside distractions, scope creep, and organizational noise, allowing them to focus on delivery.
Impediment Removal:
Proactively identify and remove blockers. Whether it's a missing license, a cross-team dependency, or a conflict, you own the resolution so the team doesn't have to.
Team Onboarding and Alignment:
Support the coordination of team activities and facilitate the smooth onboarding of new team members, ensuring they integrate quickly into our culture and processes.
Process Discipline and Rally Management
Capacity Planning:
You own the team's forward-looking capacity planner.
You proactively account for holidays, time off, and meeting overhead to ensure the team neither overcommits nor under commits during Sprint Planning. You base commitments on actual availability, not just historical velocity.
Rally Hygiene:
Enforce disciplined tracking of work items in Rally. You ensure that all User Stories, Defects, and Tasks contain complete details, accurate estimates, and timely status updates.
Metrics and Predictability:
Track and report on team metrics (Velocity, Say/Do Ratio, Cycle Time). You use data to coach the team toward higher predictability and continuous improvement.
Definition of Ready/Done:
Strictly enforce the Definition of Ready (DoR) before items enter a sprint and the Definition of Done (DoD) before they leave. You ensure quality gates are never bypassed for the sake of speed.
Education Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or 'STEM' Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with a minimum of 10+ years of experience in Agile delivery, with at least 7 years as a dedicated Scrum Master.
Required Qualifications
Mandatory:
Experience managing Enterprise Platform software products within large, global, matrixed organizations.
Mandatory:
Experience working in regulated industries (Healthcare, Finance, Aerospace) where strict documentation and QMS compliance are required.
Tool Proficiency:
Expert-level proficiency in Rally (preferred) or Jira. You must understand how to configure boards, run reports, and manage complex hierarchies.

Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification is required.
