Network Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Network Engineer with a strong focus on Operational Technology (OT) environments to design, implement, and secure critical network infrastructure. This role involves close collaboration with OT Application Engineers and OT Generalists to ensure robust, segmented, and secure network solutions, particularly for process and DMZ domains. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with network design, implementation, troubleshooting, and cybersecurity within industrial or critical infrastructure settings.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Design & Architecture:  Collaborate with OT Application Engineers and OT Generalists to comprehensively understand existing network infrastructure and meticulously document all relevant components.
Design the complete network architecture for process and DMZ domains, including detailed network segmentation, routing protocols, and switching configurations to ensure optimal performance and security.
Design network-specific aspects of firewall rules, actively participate in their deployment, and conduct thorough testing.
Network Implementation & Deployment:  Implement and configure the network infrastructure to effectively support the designed process and DMZ domain structures.
Design and define the Access Control Lists (ACLs) necessary for precise network communication, including specifying source/destination IP addresses, ports, and protocols.
Install Scanning and Database ACLs by configuring and implementing them on relevant network devices (firewalls, routers, switches) to control traffic flow.
Cybersecurity & Vulnerability Management:  Evaluate existing network infrastructure for cyber vulnerabilities and proactively implement comprehensive remediation plans to mitigate identified risks.
Testing & Troubleshooting:  Perform rigorous network-level testing to ensure that defined ACLs are functioning correctly, allowing necessary communication while explicitly blocking unauthorized access.
Troubleshoot and resolve any network connectivity issues encountered, particularly when establishing connections between critical systems like the Lan Sweeper scanner and databases. This includes verifying network paths, firewall rules, and routing configurations.
Documentation & Training:  Create detailed documentation related to network design, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures.
Provide comprehensive network-specific training to relevant teams to enhance operational capabilities.
Post-Deployment Support:  Provide essential network-related support during the hyper care period following deployments to ensure stable operations.
Required

Skills & Experience:

Minimum of  5 years of hands-on experience  as a Network Engineer.
Proven experience in  designing, deploying, and managing network infrastructure.
Strong understanding of  network segmentation, routing (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and switching (VLANs, STP).
Expertise in  firewall rule design and implementation.
Hands-on experience with  Access Control Lists (ACLs) configuration and testing.
Ability to  troubleshoot complex network connectivity issues.

Experience with  cybersecurity practices within network infrastructure.
Excellent  documentation and training skills.
Prior experience in  Operational Technology (OT) or industrial network environments  is highly desirable.
