Overview
Are you interested in working as a school counsellor? Are you a motivated and reflective counselling practitioner, with a passion for improving children and young people's mental health? Are you able to work effectively in a team?
Applications are invited for the post of School Counsellor. Successful candidates will work within the school counselling team offering counselling to young people aged between 10-18 years old. While we welcome all qualified candidates, we would particularly invite applicants able to work in the North of Aberdeenshire.

You must have a current driving license and be able to provide a car, for which appropriate travel expenses will be paid.
This post is fixed term post until March 2028 and is a 47 week per year contract.
Although for administrative reasons, you will be based at the St Leonards office in Banff, you will be required to work in a variety of school settings in Aberdeenshire.

Responsibilities- Provide counselling support to young people aged 10-18 within school settings.
- Collaborate with the school counselling team and other professionals to support pupil mental health.
- Engage in reflective practice and maintain professional standards in accordance with relevant guidance.
- Travel as required within Aberdeenshire in relation to the post.
This post has a minimum requirement of two references, one of which must be your current or most recent employer.
This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
