An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and professional couple to join a private household on a beautiful property located near Banbury, Oxfordshire, on a part time basis. This dual-role position offers a unique chance to work in a well maintained property that boasts a mature and diverse garden, set within the picturesque Oxfordshire countryside.
The property comprises a 2-acre garden, including two ponds, an extensive iris collection, mixed beds and borders and a range of fruit and ornamental trees. A modest kitchen garden provides the household with a range of fruit and vegetables, complemented by a productive greenhouse, several lawns, and a gently flowing stream that adds natural charm to the landscape.
The owners, who are dedicated plant enthusiasts, are seeking a gardener to take full responsibility for the ongoing care and maintenance of this well loved garden. The position requires a self-motivated individual with a genuine passion for horticulture and the ability to maintain the garden’s high standards throughout the year.
Responsibilities – Gardener- Pruning, weeding, planting, lawn care, and general upkeep of a private garden.
- Experience with garden machinery is important; owners have a selection of robot mowers, ride-on and walk-behind mowers, and various garden tools and equipment.
- Maintain high standards throughout the year with a flexible, proactive approach and the ability to work independently.
- Additional non-horticultural duties may be required, such as fixing fences and clearing gutters.
- Part-time role, spread over 5 days per week, responsible for interior upkeep and cleanliness of the home.
- General cleaning, laundry, ironing, and light organisational tasks.
- Discreet, trustworthy, and able to manage workload efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Look after two friendly rescue dogs when the owners travel.
- Solid foundation in horticulture with the ability to maintain a high-quality private garden.
- Ability to work independently; proactive and self-motivated.
- Flexible approach; willingness to take on occasional non-horticultural duties.
- Full, clean UK driving licence required as occasional driving may be required.
- Working hours are negotiable but in principle amount to 24 hours a week for each role.
- Position offers a quaint three-bedroom cottage off site (across the road from the main property). Children and pets are welcome.
- Council Tax paid by the property owners; utility bills are covered by the tenants.
