General SummaryThis position reports to the Head of Composites Design or their designee; is located in Maranello, Italy. Responsible for delivering weight, quality, compliance and reliability design targets. Supporting the design for both current and future car on all composite related projects.
Key Responsibilities- Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
- Design support for a variety of composite components and assemblies.
- Design studies for the concept stage of the new car design program.
- Liaise and support the Aero and FE department to achieve quality/compliance/strength/weight targets.
- Thorough knowledge of composite materials and production techniques.
- Full knowledge of the F1 technical regulations.
- Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of Composites Design or their designee.
- Degree in Mechanical engineering with a strong knowledge of composite materials.
- A minimum of 4 years experience working as a composite design engineer within motor sport
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Have an excellent understanding of technical regulations
- Strong technical background in F1 racing car design
- Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
- Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
- Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
- A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
- A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.
- Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience in Microsoft Office products and ERP Systems.
- Must be proficient in the use of CAD system:
Catia V5 / V6 3dx - Ability to follow complex regulations.
An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role may require occasional domestic & international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.
This position may require lifting to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes machinery, race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. All employees must ensure compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy, and all relevant other statutory Health and Safety legislation.
