Overview

The Fitness Center Floor Staff – Park Heights role at The Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore (JCC) involves being the face of JCC Fitness at the Park Heights location. The Staff are on the front line and have the responsibility to ensure the safety and experience of all members. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting members, delivering customer service, maintaining standard operations, monitoring, and keeping the Fitness Center clean.

Qualifications
  • CPR/AED Certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • Current and broad knowledge of equipment and body mechanics
  • Strong customer service skills with an outgoing personality; friendly, self-confident, and mature; approachable role model
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Maintain neat appearance (Black bottoms, staff shirt with name tag and staff badge)
  • Practical experience in the field
  • Current Personal Training Certification (nationally recognized and NCCA accredited) is preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain full attention on the fitness floor during shift
  • Provide high-level customer service and develop relationships to support member retention
  • Maintain a positive, enthusiastic, and helpful attitude
  • Represent the JCC Fitness Department professionally
  • Address member concerns, suggestions, and complaints promptly and professionally
  • Provide and schedule new member Welcome Workouts
  • Ensure equipment is in good working order and cleaned daily
  • Follow procedures to service or report equipment needing repair
  • Attend regularly scheduled department meetings
  • Complete hourly headcounts and manage shift duties
  • Check JCC email for news and updates
  • Educate members about programs and events using the program guide
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced with varying daily tasks. The role requires high energy and strong customer service, including member engagement, welcoming workouts, equipment assistance, and addressing member questions. The population is diverse, with varying needs and backgrounds. The fitness center temperature is kept cooler for comfort, and music is played during operations.

Physical Demands

Staff must be on their feet for the full shift, able to demonstrate exercises, and keep the facility tidy. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs to re-rack weights and equipment. Frequent use of cleaning products such as wipes and disinfectant spray.
