The University is seeking a Coordinator of Fitness & Wellness to assist in the administration of a comprehensive and vibrant student experience focused on student development, including recreational activities. The Coordinator of Fitness and Wellness has the primary oversight of group fitness, instructional and customizer classes, wellness programming, development workshops, and fitness marketing and social media. Secondary oversight includes assistance with personal and small group training and fitness floor operations.
The Fitness and Wellness Coordinator may need to teach group fitness classes or train clients as needed. A vital component of this position is a demonstrated ability to work autonomously with initiative, critical and creative thinking, as well as a strong commitment to student development, collaboration, and customer service. Additionally, this position has significant financial, administrative and personnel responsibilities. This is a 12-month, full-time position, reporting directly to the Director of Campus Recreation & Wellness.
- Manage, design, develop, modify and present programs. Perform program needs assessment and make recommendations.
- Implement policies and procedures.
- Maintain budget, prepare contracts, approve and monitor expenditures, prepare budget requests and financial reports.
- Act as liaison to internal departments, external entities and community organizations.
- May prepare and edit reports and/or newsletters and develop publication materials.
- May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

- Education:
Bachelor's Degree - Experience:
Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. - Three (3) years of experience in fitness programming/operations/management or related area.
- Must include at least one (1) year of staff supervision.
- Current certification from an accredited organization such as ACSM, ACE, AFAA, or NASM.
- Previous experience teaching a variety of group fitness class formats.
- Previous experience training, developing, and evaluating group fitness instructors at all levels.
- Previous experience training, developing, and evaluating personal trainers at all levels.
- Previous experience facilitating fitness testing, developing exercise prescriptions and leading a range of personal training sessions in individual and group settings.
- Proven commitment to student/staff development and customer service.
- Strong communication, organization, management, leadership and professional skills.
- A demonstrated ability to take to identify problems, assess alternatives, render consistent and logical decisions.
- Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyles.
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as a team player.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends and to travel, as needed.
