Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Intergenerational Center is seeking an Activities Assistant to support the planning, set-up and delivery of community workshop offerings under the direction of the Activity Manager. This role provides front line assistant to clients, volunteers, and visitors, ensuring a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment through professional conduct and attentive service.
The work schedule requires flexibility (rotating schedule - Monday
-Sunday - 7am-3:30pm (EARLY) /9am-5pm (MID) /11am-7pm (LATE).

The Intergenerational Center will provide a range of programs and opportunities for people of all ages and entire families in one central, state-of-the art facility. The Intergenerational Center will feature and offer:
Early Head Start and Head Start education, gathering spaces for community groups, a start-of the art recreation center, workforce development services, a community health clinic, behavioral health and substance abuse services, playgrounds and more. As an Intergenerational Center, our programs will be designed to foster engagement across generations, so that people of all ages can learn and benefit from one another.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains a safe and secure environment for clients, staff members, volunteers, and visitors inside and outside the property by actively monitoring activity and addressing safety concerns.
- Provides support for event outreach through regular building canvassing, to promote awareness and engagement with building offerings.
- Coordinates and supports community-oriented workshops, including set-up, delivery, and breakdown in Community Hub classroom spaces.
- Provides general assistance to guests and assists in various aspects of services delivery, including assisting in the operation of the food pantry, Community Hub activities, and special events.
- Assists with resident and volunteer orientation, providing guidance through active observation, behavioral support, and timely reporting of concerns to supervisors.
- Demonstrates and models the values of Catholic Charities through professional conduct, communication, and consistent engagement with clients and volunteers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- One (1) year of experience providing direct client services in a community-based and classroom setting, supporting workshops, programming, recordkeeping, and ensuring safety and compliance.
- CPR and/or First Aid within six months of employment and maintained thereafter.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills by interacting with staff, clients, and visitors with courtesy, professionalism, and compassion while effectively supporting individuals with diverse personalities and needs.
- Maintains a safe environment for clients, visitors and co-workers by following established safety protocols, promptly addressing hazards, and promoting a culture of accountability to ensure the well-being of all individuals in the workplace.
- Utilize effective conflict resolution, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to address issues, de-escalate conflict, and make sound decisions that support a positive and productive work environment.
- Displays excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Demonstrates discretion and professionalism in all situations, maintaining confidentiality and integrity.
- Requires proficiency in using computer systems and software to perform job function, including but not limited to, basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, and One Drive is preferred.
- No remote or hybrid work availability based on core and essential functions of the position.
- Flexibility may be required to work beyond standard hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, or other similar structures as required to perform job tasks.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions, which may include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or repositioning items as necessary to perform job duties.
- Positioning oneself in ways to accomplish tasks in various environments, including navigating tight or confined spaces as needed to complete job responsibilities.
- Remaining in a stationary position, which may involve standing or sitting for extended periods, as required to complete tasks or duties associated with the role.
