Reporting to the Lead Case Manager, the Unaccompanied Children (UC) Foster Care Case Manager will be responsible for providing casework and supportive services to children in foster care, which includes comprehensive case management services, bi-weekly home visits, communication with identified family members both in home country and the U.S., and the identification and vetting of potential sponsors. The position is on-site with the ability to work a hybrid schedule.

Duties
  • Ensure that all assigned youth on your caseload receive mandatory services while in care, including mental health, medical, recreational, educational, and other supportive services in accordance with program requirements and timelines.
  • Develop and complete assessments, service and treatment plans, progress notes, incident reports, and other necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a trusting and safe relationship with clients and encourage their personal growth.
  • Keep accurate and current information on children in care, ensuring internal documentation practices and reporting requirements are met.
  • Actively participate in weekly staff meetings with the clinical team and stakeholders.
  • Attend, facilitate, and assist with ongoing education and support services to foster parents.
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisor to consult on cases, review case plans, and evaluate client participation and progress.
  • Schedule office, in-home, and/or offsite meetings with assigned foster parents and children bi-weekly to address service delivery concerns.
  • Maintain effective communication with community agencies and individuals involved in service provision.
  • Attend internal and external trainings and apply newly gained knowledge in providing services.
  • Attend and prepare for required court hearings (if applicable).
  • Transport youth to appointments and family unifications as needed.
  • Stay abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to service provision.
  • Adhere to federal, state, program, and agency regulations and work independently within the field.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor, administrators, and all stakeholders.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, including after-hours and weekend work.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or Family Studies, required.
  • Master's degree in Social Work or counseling; licensure in the state of Maryland (LMSW / LCP), strongly preferred.
  • Experience in child welfare/case management, strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish, required.
  • Prior experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations, strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal communication, group leadership, public speaking, and clinical writing.
  • Active motor vehicle license, clean driving record, and a reliable automobile with adequate insurance coverage.
  • Ability to pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries.
  • Up to 25% travel required, including escorting youth to family unifications by car and air; may include same-day travel and occasional overnight stays.
