Diesel Mechanic Technician

Position Description

Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Baltimore, Maryland — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about.

• Hourly Pay: $26.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 for each New ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus:
  Up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday, Weekends OFF
• Hours:
  
  Second Shift 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines:
• Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.) required
• Two (2) years or more of classroom training and/or work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
• Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance
• Perform standard component inspections and repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computers when applicable
• Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint when assigned a task
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as required to support operations (may include Service Island support)
