Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $36.00 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)

    Monday–Friday, Weekends OFF

    First Shift 7:00 am – 4:00 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work), diagnostics and repairs (AC, electrical systems), and advanced skilled level repairs (major engine repairs, diesel aftertreatment or automotive fuel injection repairs) required
  • Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • All other certifications required by location
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to perform all T3 tasks
  • Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • Can lift up to 50 pounds
  • Available for shift work, weekends and on‑call duty as required
  • Prefer ASE certification (PM, brakes, A/C, electrical, electronics) or ASE Master Mechanic
  • Proficient in operating shop computers and diagnostic test equipment
  • Minimum tool requirement met
  • Can road‑test vehicles as necessary
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and influence others
  • Must obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire
  • Must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and resume background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
  • Must drive Ryder vehicles as required
Responsibilities
  • Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
    220)
  • Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix (within 365 days)
  • Complete instructor‑led OEM courses as required to support location fleet mix
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs with minimal support
  • Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support, utilizing diagnostic computers/software as applicable
  • Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solution for roadside breakdowns
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Instruct and advise other technicians regarding maintenance, repair procedures and diagnostics
  • Coach and mentor other level technicians
  • Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs
  • Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Other support duties as required to support operations (including but not limited to Service Island support)
