Summary

The Distribution Mechanic III is responsible for maintaining and repairing all equipment, piping systems, valves, and machinery at our power plant located in Baltimore, Maryland. This is a full‑time, hourly, union position and reports to the Distribution Manager. The compensation for this position is $34.16 per hour plus a 10% bonus target.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain safe working conditions in accordance with established Company policies
  • Identify, report and/or correct unsafe work environments
  • Operate all hand/power tools in a competent manner
  • Install, repair, replace, and troubleshoot piping systems, valves, steam traps, pumps
  • Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled
  • Exercise caution in the use and maintenance of all company equipment
  • Respond to emergency situations immediately and work quickly to correct the problem(s).
  • Participate in training to continue education and skills in craft
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Distribution Manager
  • Participate in training to further welding skills, as needed by the department
  • Takes rotating, on‑call (beeper) on weekends, back shifts, and holidays
  • Must be able to work overtime as required
Basic Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year experience in an industrial maintenance setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to perform basic computer operations and use email
Other Qualifications
  • Valid MD 4th or 5th Grade Stationary Engineers License
  • Minimum one year Pipe fitting experience
  • Minimum one year Welding experience
  • Minimum one year Rigging certification

    Physical Requirements
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by Company’s vehicle insurance carrier. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company.
    • Must complete pre‑employment screenings including a company physical exam in addition to drug testing.
    • Ability to lift and maneuver up to and including 50 pounds.
    • Ability to work in confined spaces.
    • Ability to climb and tolerate heights up to 100 feet.
    • Must be able to walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach.
    • Ability to tolerate heat in an industrial production plant environment.
