Job Title:

Facilities Technician Job Description

The Facilities Technician will perform a wide range of general maintenance tasks, including specialized and challenging jobs. This role involves repairing, maintaining, and inspecting machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings, with a focus on plumbing, air conditioning, and heating systems. The technician ensures that machines run smoothly and building systems operate efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance and repair tasks, including high voltage motors.
  • Repair, maintain, and inspect machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings.
  • Work on plumbing jobs such as adjusting and repairing pipes, plumbing fixtures, and valves.
  • Maintain and repair HVAC units, heat pumps, and related equipment.
  • Unclog drain lines and sewers.
  • Make minor adjustments to building controls as needed.
  • Conduct routine maintenance according to established schedules.
  • Inspect drive motors, belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance tasks.
  • Repair and maintain electrical systems, including switches, circuit breakers, outlets, and light fixtures.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced workers in performing maintenance jobs.
  • Keep records of maintenance and repair work.
  • Observe safety precautions and use equipment properly to avoid harm.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Be available for 24‑hour calls as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • 3‑5 years of experience in HVAC maintenance.
  • Proficiency in plumbing, preventive maintenance, and building maintenance.
  • Ability to perform PMS on HVAC and plumbing equipment.
  • Skills in repairs, mechanical troubleshooting, and building maintenance.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm. The position involves working across seven buildings on the Hopkins School of Public Health campus. It offers a structured work environment with opportunities for growth.

This is a Contract position based out of Baltimore, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
