Painter II - Department of General Services | City of Baltimore

Salary$41,485.00 - $45,700.00 ANNUALLY
Responsibilities- A Painter II performs complex painting work including the mixing of colors to specifications or matching paint to existing surfaces.
- Work involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
- Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Work is performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to inclement weather and heights from ladders and scaffolding. Moderate physical exertion.
- Education:
Graduated from an accredited high school or possess a GED certificate. - Experience:
Three years of experience in painting work. - Equivalency:
Six months of additional painting experience may substitute for each year of the high school or GED requirement. Completion of one year of the required coursework in a painting curriculum may substitute for six months of the experience requirement. - Licenses:
Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver s license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver s license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management. Provisional driver’s license or learner permits are not acceptable.

Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of tools, materials, techniques and equipment of the painting trade.
- Knowledge of the characteristics of common types of paints and finishes.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
- Ability to mix paints and prepare surfaces for painting.
- Ability to match paint to existing surfaces or color chip.
- Ability to erect scaffolding.
- Ability to train new employees.
- Background Check:
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint. - Probation:
Six-month mandatory probation. - Eligibility:
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. - Education Accreditation:
Education must be from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained outside the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. - Selection Process:
All candidates indicating the minimum qualifications will be placed on the eligible list; the training and experience will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. - Examination Process:
Applicants must provide sufficient information to show they meet minimum qualifications; the examination will assess education, training, and experience. - Note:
