Field/Service Technician, Installation Technician
Overview
Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component to ensure that the area is compliant with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations.
Understanding of performing these tasks using multiple methods is required. Technicians will be dispatched to locate and verify for utility customers. Technicians can work independently or in a team environment, under the supervision of an assigned supervisor. This job requires focus, skill, and the use of machinery and/or tools.

Responsibilities- Locate underground facilities by using a transmitter and connecting to buried facilities or pedestals
- Work across various terrains and weather conditions in construction zones, residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties
- Perform locates and emergency/on-call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as necessary
- Demonstrate professional and efficient work practices while communicating with customers, co-employees, and third parties
- Communicate with management, contractors, and utility customers to ensure a damage-free environment
- Demonstrate knowledge of technology and tools needed for locating
- Collaborate with others in a supervised team environment
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- State-issued driver's license
- Ability to problem-solve and read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints
- Vacuum truck experience (preferred)
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs
- Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day
- Excellent communication skills
- Pass a Background screening (no violations within the last 5 years)
- Pass a DOT drug test
- All employees are assigned proper technology and work vehicles to perform duties
- Tools provided to achieve objectives: company vehicle, laptop, and smartphone; all personal protective equipment
