The primary responsibility of the Security Officers - K9 is to maintain the safety and security of patrons, employees, and the property of Horseshoe Baltimore. Security Officers - K9 will utilize a specially trained and certified detection canine to perform job specific tasks.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Enforce safety policies and procedures to create a safe environment for all.
- Patrol the property, respond to calls for service, and gather guest information related to security and safety incidents.
- Respond to situations that indicate a need for K9 support throughout the casino and parking lot
- Perform crowd management control and scene management.
- Provide basic medical assistance in accordance with department training.
- Perform s to ensure compliance with state laws and company policies.
- Monitor and restrict access to designated areas.
- Communicate clearly and concisely via radio and telephones.
- Maintain knowledge of gaming, state, and city laws.
- Collaborate with the Security Manager, security personnel, and departmental representatives to effectively execute security protocols and policies.
- Train and care for the canine according to company policy, ensuring daily safety, well-being, feeding, watering, and medication as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of K9 areas, including waste management, while monitoring and reporting any health or behavioral concerns regarding the animals.
- Engage in regular training exercises and conduct training scenarios with other security team members to promote awareness of the techniques
- Operate a motorized vehicle when necessary
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.
- High school degree or equivalent required
- Law enforcement or related experience a plus Gaming background a plus
- Must be able to be licensed by Maryland Lottery Commission
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, pass a motor vehicle records check, and drug test
- Flexibility to work varying hours depending on the needs of the property and K9 Vision must be sufficient that the Officer is not restricted in the performance of duties day or night Shift
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook
- Ability to handle problems involving patrons and operation issues while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in stressful, high‑pressure situations.
- Ability to work alone or in a team environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of patron information and casino.
- Ability to maintain poise and calm demeanor in stressful situations
- Must have a personal vehicle for transporting the canine between the property, other locations such a Veterinary clinic, and home safely and by policy.
- Must have a personal residence where the canine of that size and breed is not a violation of your residence as part of the responsibility of the Security K9 handler is to keep the canine in their own residence and provide conditions, environment, enrichment for the ethical treatment of the canine.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and engage in rigorous activity when needed
- Physical ability to stand, sit, kneel lift indoors for extended periods of time.
- Possession of a valid Maryland Gaming License, CPR certification, and Alcohol Awareness certification. CPR certification completed after hiring.
- Attend and successfully complete annual training sessions and certifications relevant to essential duties
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
