DescriptionAs an employee of Boehringer Ingelheim, you will actively contribute to the discovery, development, and delivery of our products to patients and customers. The Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Sales Consultant implements our ILD sales and marketing plans to maximize distribution and market penetration within Boehringer guidelines. You will conduct business with key ILD clinics and target pulmonologists, rheumatologists, radiologists, advanced practice clinicians, and allied healthcare professionals, with additional responsibilities in teaching, community, federal, and military hospitals.
Overnight travel and occasional night and weekend ILD meetings are required.
- Maintain and utilize ILD product knowledge to influence targeted ILD HCPs, executing brand strategies and ensuring a consistent sales and marketing message.
- Establish, maintain, and coordinate effective communication with internal BIPI employees, pre‑call planning, and follow‑up discussions.
- Identify key ILD business needs, develop territory plans, and involve support personnel in strategy execution.
- Analyze territory information to optimize HCP calls and react to local market conditions.
- Develop plans to maximize regional and national speaker and marketing programs, adjusting implementation regularly.
- Use sales data for activity planning, monitor literature use, and maintain accurate records.
- Identify and develop regional and national ILD thought leaders and advocates, providing feedback and follow‑up.
- Manage programs and budgets within BI ILD standards, working proactively with Associate Directors and Key Account Managers.
- Perform all company business in accordance with regulations (EEO, FDA, DEA, OSHA, PDMA, EPA, PhRMA, etc.) and company policies.
- Provide comprehensive administrative duties, including expense reports, call reports, and communications; develop a personal development plan with biannual reviews.
ILD Sales Consultant I Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Minimum of three years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience; two years of specialty/pulmonary experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to translate scientific information to customers.
- Travel with overnights and some weekend programs.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
- Minimum of five years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience with at least three years of specialty/pulmonary experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to translate scientific information to customers.
- Travel with overnights and some weekend programs.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
- Seven to ten years of pharmaceutical sales experience, with five to seven years of specialty/pulmonary experience.
- Track record of high‑performing team and cross‑functional matrix work.
- Excellent communications, objective setting, and influencing skills.
- At least one year of experience managing accounts, leveraging HUB services, collaborating with clinical educators, and supporting reimbursement navigation.
- Ability to travel overnight (10‑50% of time), including weekends.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and other relevant applications.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post‑offer physical if required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
This position offers a base salary typically between $95,000 and $153,100. The position may be eligible for a role‑specific variable or performance‑based bonus and/or other compensation elements.
