PREP Research Associate

This position is part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Professional Research Experience (PREP) program. NIST collaborates with academic institutions on projects of mutual interest. This role supports scientific research within the NIST Quantitative Flow Cytometry Program and the NIST Biomarker and Genomic Sciences Group, performing technical work that underpins the collaborations.

Senior Research Technician

• Support laboratory maintenance, safety, and ordering for flow cytometry, molecular biology, and cell culture labs.
• Support the qualification and generation of wet‑lab procedures for flow cytometry measurements and standards development by conducting experiments and maintaining instruments.
• Analyze flow cytometry data using agreed‑upon software.
• Lead cold storage monitoring systems and maintenance.
• Keep accurate and organized electronic records.

• A minimum of a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
• 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in molecular biology and mammalian cell culture.
• Proficiency in flow cytometry experiments and data analysis.
• Familiarity with maintenance of flow cytometers.
• Strong written documentation skills.

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Compensation may vary depending on location, skills, experience, and other factors.
